Sailing in Style – My Virgin Voyages Moet Moments at Sea

There is something magical about that first moment you step on board a Virgin Voyages ship. The low hum of the engines, the gentle sway of the gangway, the soft pop of a champagne cork and then that first sip of perfectly chilled Moet as the sunlight dances across the water. This is when you realise you are not stepping into a traditional cruise. This is grown up, all in luxury with a cheeky Virgin twist: adults only, more than 20 incredible eateries included, no buffets, no formal nights, and a relaxed indulgent atmosphere that invites you to make the voyage entirely your own.
I have now sailed twice with Virgin Voyages, the tropical sunshine of Mayan Sol on Valiant Lady and the breathtaking Istanbul, Santorini & More itinerary on Resilient Lady. On the latter, I sailed as a Mega Rockstar in a Gorgeous Suite, and trust me, once you have experienced suite life Virgin style, it is very hard to go back.
Why Virgin Voyages is Different
The Lady Ships, Scarlet Lady, Valiant Lady, Resilient Lady, and Brilliant Lady, are sleek, stylish, and adults only. That means no kids, no queues for chicken nuggets, and no early morning dash to claim a pool lounger.
Instead, you have over 20 dining options included in your fare, from a New York style steakhouse to Korean BBQ, plus gratuities, WiFi, essential drinks, and unlimited group fitness classes already built in.
The ships are designed like floating boutique hotels with the freedom of a superyacht: intimate spaces, mood lighting, and playful touches at every turn. Mornings can begin with sunrise yoga at The Perch, afternoons grazing on Mediterranean tapas at The Dock, and evenings with a flute of Moet in Sip, Virgin’s elegant champagne lounge.
My Moet Moments
For me, champagne and sailing belong together. My favourite place to enjoy Moet is on my own balcony while getting ready for the evening — the horizon glowing gold, music playing, and the anticipation of what the night will bring.
On our Istanbul sailing, we hosted an unforgettable sail away party in our Gorgeous Suite with eight friends. Our Rockstar Agent stocked the bar with as much Moet as we could drink, sent up a feast of snacks from The Galley, and even brought vinyl so we could curate our own soundtrack. It felt like our own private lounge at sea, the kind you never want to leave.
Other Moet moments? Poolside at The Aquatic Club, toes dipped in the water as the ship eases away from port. Or tucked away in Richard’s Rooftop, the private retreat for suite guests, where the champagne flows as easily as the conversation.
Favourite Restaurant – The Wake
No Virgin sailing feels complete without at least one visit to The Wake, the glamorous steakhouse and seafood brasserie at the aft of the ship. Think Art Deco elegance meets a modern twist, with floor to ceiling wake views as your backdrop.
For brunch, it is always the steak and eggs for me — perfectly cooked and indulgent enough to make it feel like a true sea day. Dinner begins with silky clam chowder or roasted bone marrow on toasted brioche, followed by filet mignon, aged tomahawk steak, or the towering grand plateau from the raw bar.
And the sides… brown butter roasted wild mushrooms, twice baked potato with caramelised onions, creamed spinach — all perfect with a bottle of Moet.
Insider Tips from a Serial Sailor
Over the next two years, I will be sailing four more Virgin Voyages itineraries, from the Comedy Fest in a Posh Suite, to a Gorgeous Suite voyage along the US West Coast, and our Anniversary Armada from Barcelona with 20 friends and family (and yes, you can still join us).
Here is what I have learned:
Best cabins for views – Gorgeous Suite or Central Sea Terrace. The balcony space, hammock, and panoramic views make all the difference.
Book early – As soon as dining and entertainment open in the app, secure your spots. You can always cancel later.
Add a Splash of Romance – Limited to a small number of cabins each sailing. Includes priority boarding, Moet and chocolate dipped strawberries on arrival, daily cold pressed juices, a Shake for Champagne credit, a 3 hour thermal spa pass, and Sailor Loot to spend onboard.
Use Shake for Champagne – Open the app, shake your phone anywhere onboard, and Moet will be delivered to you. Iconic.
Priority boarding – Get on board first, enjoy a relaxed lunch, and explore the ship before the crowds.
Quiet spots – The Dock on Deck 7 is my sanctuary for Mediterranean small plates and uninterrupted ocean views.
Party spots – The Manor for a glamorous, glittery night you will never forget.
Why I Keep Coming Back
Virgin Voyages gets the balance exactly right — luxury without stiffness, world class food without hidden extras, and ships that offer the perfect mix of calm and energy.
One of my greatest joys is waking up in a different port each morning, ready to explore somewhere new. It could be strolling through Ibiza’s old town, wine tasting in Bordeaux, or stepping back in time among the ruins of Ephesus in Turkey.
Every voyage feels fresh, every menu offers something new, and every sunset with a glass of champagne is just as magical as the first.
Let’s Plan Your Virgin Voyages Escape
I can check the latest offers, hold your cabin at no obligation, and often add Sailor Loot for you to enjoy onboard. Whether it is your first sailing or your fifth, I will help you choose the itinerary, cabin, and experiences that make your voyage unforgettable.
